2 Tips to Spot Processed Food

Hey everyone! Today I’m sharing a few simple tips to help you easily identify processed foods, along with some healthy alternatives for your diet.

1. Identifying Processed Foods

If you leave food on the counter for a couple of days and it does not spoil, it has little to no nutritional value. If it had organic matter, the food would start to mold and change colors. For example, most prepackaged baked goods will not spoil when left out because they are packed with processed sugars and grains.

These sugars and grains increase inflammation, causing stress on your body’s internal systems. Inflammation is often the source of pain, disfunction in your organs, and chronic diseases. It is the mechanism that promotes underlying disfunction.

2. Avoiding Blue Foods

If it is blue and not a blueberry, you should probably not eat it. Blue foods and beverages usually contain significant amounts of artificial coloring.

Healthy Alternatives

Aim for 5-8 servings of fruits and vegetables every day! This will provide your body with necessary vitamins and fibers that are absent in most processed foods.
